On August 4, 2026, at the Ishango Hotel in Goma, Femmes Entrepreneures pour le Développement (FED Asbl) officially launched the Mtandao Kwa Amani na Maendeleo project, with financial support from Urgent Action Fund for Africa (UAF‑Africa).
Implemented from July 23 to October 23, 2026, the project places 50 women, girls, youth, and persons with disabilities at the center of efforts to prevent digital violence in the crisis context of Goma and Nyiragongo.
Through a participatory, inclusive, and solution‑oriented approach, participants analyze risks linked to hate speech, disinformation, cyberbullying, and online violence, and develop concrete strategies for prevention and response.
The initiative strengthens the leadership of women and youth, amplifies the voices of persons with disabilities, and fosters their participation in decisions affecting their safety and digital future.The strategies developed are already being shared in churches, schools, universities, markets, and associations in Goma and Nyiragongo, expanding the impact beyond direct participants and promoting digital technology for peace, social cohesion, and resilience.FED Asbl believes that affected communities are not only beneficiaries: they are carriers of solutions.Local voices.
